To ensure a continued strong focus on the working environment, as well as on salary and working conditions at the construction site of the upcoming Fehmarnbelt connection, Femern A/S has opened an authority centre near the construction site in Rødbyhavn.
The centre allows the various authorities that carry out inspections on the construction site to have better conditions for controlling working conditions.
This applies to the Danish Working Environment Authority, the Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration - SIRI, the Danish Maritime Authority and the Danish Tax Agency, and in addition, the Police can make use of the centre, if needed.
Control over working environment as well as salaries and working conditions
At the opening of the authority centre, Minister of Transport, Benny Engelbrecht stated, among other things:
“There must be control over the working environment, as well as pay levels and working conditions on our state construction sites. The construction of the Fehmarnbelt connection is very large and complicated, and the amount of control required is therefore very extensive. It is an advantage for the various controlling authorities that Femern A / S has now provided better conditions for them to do their jobs, and it gives the signal that we insist on proper conditions on one of Denmark's largest construction sites. ”
Possibility of quick intervention
Acting Minister for Employment and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Integration, Mattias Tesfaye, also inaugurated the authority centre.
“It is important that action can be taken quickly and effectively against any violations in connection with the construction. Therefore, I am really pleased that aa authority centre has now been locally established, where the Danish Working Environment Authority, SIRI and other relevant authorities have the opportunity to provide a better and more coordinated joint authority service for companies and employees on the construction project. The physical presence of the authorities so close to the construction site should make intervention against any illegalities much easier. It will hopefully contribute to ensuring a healthy and safe working environment, as well as proper pay and employment conditions,” said Mattias Tesfaye.
Location close to the construction site
Femern A/S has established the authority centre in collaboration with the authorities that are represented there. The centre is located in the immediate vicinity of the construction site, close to Femern A/S’s own supervisory unit and the site office facilities of the trade unions.
