Body

Femern Belt Development (FBD) is closely involved in all aspects of development in and around the Fehmarn Belt project.

Our goal is to ensure that Danish companies play a leading role in the billion-DKK project for the benefit of growth and development in Region Zealand.

Four years after the first sod was turned, it can be confirmed that around 70 per cent of all contracts on the Fehmarn Belt project have gone to Danish companies.

Whilst setting new goals, Femern Belt Development will continue to pave the way for Danish companies to contribute to the completion of the Fehmarn Belt project and to advise on internationalisation and collaboration.

Global Leadership
We still have our focus on the Fehmarn Belt project, but now with a long-term perspective and vision of positioning Denmark as a global market leader in the development of the green mega-infrastructure of the future.

This is happening with the Fehmarn Belt construction project as a springboard and on the basis of the know-how built up in the project.  The future permanent tunnel element factory in Rødbyhavn can become the home of manufactured elements for future infrastructure projects, both on land and at sea.

In connection with the permanent tunnel element factory, we have a vision of developing “Fehmarn Innovation Link”, a knowledge and learning centre, in collaboration with Danish and German educational institutions and the business community.

Danish-German cooperation
Femern Belt Development has a significant network in Germany and close cooperation with German educational institutions, authorities, politicians and the business community.

In the coming years leading up to the opening of the Fehmarn Belt tunnel, we will strengthen this cooperation with a focus on political, business and educational partnerships and we will develop cross-border projects and initiatives.

A common future
With the Fehmarn Belt project as a catalyst, we are working together towards a common future where borders are not barriers but open doors to new opportunities for innovation, development and growth.
