The conference "Unlocking the Green Potential of a Unified North" on 12th June will be held in English and will take place from 9:30 to 16:15 in Rødbyhavn, Denmark.

There is a limited number of participants at the conference, which will feature keynote speeches, panel discussions and networking opportunities.

The preliminary conference program includes panel discussions on the following topics and will be moderated by Lykke Friis:

Mechanisms and game changers in a thriving cross-border region
Building the Greater Fehmarn Region: opportunities and actions
Interconnected and green entrepreneurship & innovation in the mega-region

The panelists include i.e. Norwegian, Swedish, Danish and German politicians, business personalities and researchers.

Now we really see the benefits of the Danish-German connection

Managing Director Stig Rømer Winther takes stock after 15 years of work with the Fehmarn project; many Danish workplaces, significant orders for Danish companies, business establishment on Lolland, increased Danish-German business cooperation and an international knowledge center are some of the already visible results of the future permanent connection.

On 1st  March 2008, Stig Rømer Winther became Managing Director of Femern Belt Forum Foundation, as it was then called, now Femern Belt Development Foundation.

Then, as now, the aim was to get the greatest possible benefit from the Fehmarn connection in the form of jobs and regional growth and development, both during the construction period and in the years following its commission.

New viewpoint to provide a better overview of the Fehmarn construction site

The construction of the Fehmarnbelt tunnel between Denmark and Germany is not only the largest construction project in Danish history, but also a significant tourist attraction.

Femern A/S will now give the many visitors from both Denmark and abroad a better overview of the construction site by establishing a new, high viewing ramp close to the place where the tunnel begins.

The new viewpoint is expected to open to visitors in early 2024.

Mega-project Femern Belt tunnel shooting up

The birth of the Femern Belt tunnel is indeed an impressive sight!
To the east of Rødbyhavn, the entrepreneur consortia Fehmarn Belt Contractors are in full action, constructing the working harbour and docks that will receive the materials for the production of the tunnel elements, and from where the finished elements will be sailed out to their final position in the Baltic Sea.
To the right is a picture from the construction site, as it appeared at October 2023.
We will be following the construction work closely with regular photo updates of the huge construction site, thanks to our good cooperation with Femern A/S.
